Having eye surgery can be intimidating and life-changing. The team at Vision North aims to make the endeavor as stress-free as possible, by providing you full consultation and the best resources available.
Cataract Surgery Co-management
Cataract surgery is indicated for patients that are suffering from visually significant cataracts. Most people in their life-time will have some degree of cataract, but not all will have symptoms severe enough to warrant surgery. Common symptoms of cataract are blurred vision (even when wearing glasses or contact lenses), glare when driving at night, and halos around lights. Cataracts are diagnosed by careful examination of the eye.
If, at your visit, we determine that you have a Cataract in need of surgical intervention, our team will coordinate with one of our preferred cataract surgeons in the area. We typically care for you before and after the surgery to ensure that you are prepared and recovering properly. We will also serve as a resource to you throughout the entire process.
Laser Vision Correction
Laser vision correction is a surgical way of managing a person’s refractive error. Not everyone is a good candidate, and that is why we take special care to complete a full laser-vision consultation before offering you an opinion on whether or not you and your eyes are well suited for the procedure. There are several types of laser vision correction (i.e. LASIK, PRK, SMILE). After a careful examination and review of your results, we will discuss what type of laser is best suited for you.
If, after your consultation, you are motivated to pursue surgery, we will coordinate your care with one of our preferred laser surgeons in the area. Vision North will typically care for you before and after the surgery to ensure that you are prepared and recovering properly. We will also serve as a resource to you throughout the entire process.
Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) Correction
The implantable collamer lens (ICL) is a refractive surgery that involves the insertion of an artificial lens (made of plastic and collamer). This procedure is capable of correcting high-minus prescriptions (up to -20 diopters of myopia) and astigmatism (up to -4 diopters of astigmatism). Persons with far-sightedness (i.e. Hyperopia) are not candidates for this procedure. Not everyone is a good candidate for ICL correction, and that is why we take special care to complete a full examination before making any recommendations.
If, after your consultation, you are motivated to pursue ICL surgery, we will coordinate your care with one of our preferred surgeons in the area. Vision North will typically care for you before and after the surgery to ensure that you are prepared and recovering appropriately. We will also serve as a resource to you throughout the entire process.
