Meibomian Gland Heating and Expression with TearCare®
Your eyelids have tiny glands to produce oil that coats the surface of your eye, keeping them hydrated and comfortable. These glands are called Meibomian Glands. Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is when the Meibomian Glands are blocked, and symptoms often include irritation, vision fluctuations, and/or watery eyes. The TearCare® System is an in-office treatment option for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). It is a personalized procedure designed to target the underlying cause of your dry eye. TearCare® fits comfortably to the unique shape of your eyelids and applies intelligent therapeutic heat to liquefy the stagnant oils in the Meibomian Glands of your eye. After the 15 minutes of therapeutic heat, your doctor will express the glands, and remove any obstructions to allow for more optimal gland function. TearCare® is not covered by insurance; it is a private pay procedure.
Blephex Treatment
Anterior blepharitis is an inflammatory and often chronic condition that involves the eyelid margin and eyelashes; it is characterized by a buildup of natural bacteria and biofilm. Symptoms often include: eye irritation, a burning sensation, tearing and itchiness. It is common to find sticky eyelids, crusty and flaky discharge in the mornings. The disease is commonly associated with staphylococcal bacterial infection or Demodex mite infestations. Left untreated, it can lead to dry eye disease. Removing any flaky buildup along eyelids and Demodex nits around the eyelashes will reduce the possibility of bacterial infection and increase the proper working function of the meibomian glands. Blephex® is not covered by insurance; it is a private pay procedure.
